Eddie Howe seeking further new signings at Bournemouth
“We are more relatable to Swansea with our style of play and how they attacked the previous league”.
“We haven’t followed their blueprint, but there are definitely similarities between the clubs, especially with our histories, and hopefully we can emulate what they’ve done”.
Eddie Howe has set his sights on “doing a Swansea” with Premier League new boys Bournemouth. That’s taking up our time behind the scenes, ‘ he said.
“We hope we can be competitive and at the moment, the players are showing all the signs that they can be”.
“We need to look at it from a different angle”.
Bournemouth’s prudent approach is underpinned by the funds made available by their owner, Maxim Demin, and signing – among others – Tyrone Mings from Ipswich Town for £8m suggests they can pack a reasonable enough punch.
Howe, speaking at the launch of Bournemouth’s newly-renamed Vitality Stadium, said: “I have not had a break, but most of my summers since I have been a manager have been spent working and planning, making sure that your recruitment is as good as it can be, because your season depends on that”.
Howe believes the England Under-20 star is worth the new three-year deal he has been given and claimed his display against the French side proved that. I have been pleased with how the new players have adjusted to what we ask of them. We are short in a couple of areas.
Swansea have now established themselves in the big time by playing a brand of football that has won them many admirers and are preparing for their fifth season in the Premier League.
“If we’re the best we can be, then we’ll win games”.
“We are aware of what we want”, he added.
“It will be a huge test of everybody’s ability and resilience to compete at this level”. We wouldn’t go into the task with that mindset. “Bournemouth are not going to be able to compete with those top clubs but when you put 11 players on the pitch it’s not really about money”.
One word that has not been mentioned during a pre-season schedule that began in Philadelphia and ends in Hoffenheim on Saturday, is relegation.
“We are not focusing on just staying up”.
“It has been a sharp rise for him but he deserves it. He has put in the hard work, shown a great attitude towards his training and improved every aspect of his game”.
