Clinton Sanders tie, Trump leads in Republican: latest poll
Deutsche Bank, which paid Clinton $475,000 for addresses in NY and Washington, declined to comment, as did Goldman Sachs. The Clinton camp, sensing Sanders’s increasing hold in nationwide polls, has recently stepped up its emails calling on supporters to contribute small donations.
The latest Democratic presidential debate took place Thursday night, and it was a one-on-one debate between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.
The two campaigns have even skirmished this week over why Sanders is doing so well in New Hampshire polls.
For her part, Clinton talked about how great it was to travel with former colleagues.
Unlike the primaries that follow in New Hampshire and South Carolina, Iowa’s caucuses are run by the state parties and not by government, such as a secretary of state’s office, so there is less election law involved.
“While Trump, Clinton and Cruz wallow in a negative favourability swamp, by comparison, Rubio and Sanders are rock stars”, Malloy said.
The 100 Club has been a tradition for New Hampshire Democrats since 1959, when the first dinner served as a fundraiser for John F. Kennedy, then a USA senator. At a recent gathering in Nashua put on by the state party, she was the only candidate to receive a standing ovation following her remarks.
The polls saw Clinton garner 44 percent of the Democratic votes, while 42 percent people voted in favor of Sanders, a remarkable rise in his poll numbers since Quinnipiac University last released its poll results towards the end of December. The Iowa race proved Sanders’ ability to turn the excitement around his candidacy and large attendance at rallies into actual votes.
On foreign policy, Sanders and Clinton agree: She has more experience.
Thursday’s two-hour session, moderated by Maddow and Chuck Todd, represented the first time Clinton and Sanders sparred head-to-head, without Martin O’Malley on stage with them. So now he’s turned his sights toward Pennsylvania, which offers a big delegate haul. His style is to hit back by arguing his points vigorously and citing differences, so he would not send verbal darts Clinton’s way.
It takes 2,382 delegates to win the Democratic nomination for president.
“Well, I think Bernie is maybe a little more honest, but she’s good too”, said Deborah Hawkins of Temple.
Mr. Sanders and Ms. Clinton both received long, loud and enthusiastic ovations from the crowd, which contained many establishment Democrats including current and former governors, members of Congress, state lawmakers and national party leaders. “She has the entire establishment or nearly the entire establishment behind her”. “Our campaign, up to now, has shown that we can create an enormous amount of enthusiasm from working people, from young people, who will get involved in the political process”. In a debate last month, Sanders said, “What we’ve got to do is move as aggressively as we can to normalize relations with Iran”, although he quickly added that he was not advocating for full ties, and noted Iran’s backing for terrorism.
Clinton has slightly outspent Sanders on radio and television spots aired so far, according to political advertising tracker Kantar Media’s CMAG data. He’s lined up about $1.5 million in future ads compared to about $730,000 for Clinton, the data show.
Iowa Democratic Party officials are reviewing results from the Iowa caucuses and making updates where discrepancies have been found.
