Obama salutes National Basketball Association champs at White House
Green made all nine shots as the Warriors (44-4) wrapped up January at 40 games over. Instead, he doubled down on who he was, attacking the rim more aggressively and getting Gortat more involved to turn what could have been a blowout into a competitive, respectable game on a night where the Warriors would have preferred to punch out after the third quarter.
On Thursday, however, there was jollity. The Golden State Warriors were already in Washington D.C. for a game against the Wizards on Wednesday evening, where the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry lead the organization past the Washington Wizards 134-121 for their eighth straight victory.
“You hear the stories of families who have been affected by it, by gun violence”, Curry said before the Warriors’ game against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. “He was all jumping up and down”.
Obama also gave Warriors assistant Luke Walton props for leading Golden State to a 39-4 mark as Kerr sat out the season’s first half following complications from an offseason surgery.
Stephen, 27, and Ayesha Curry’s superstar daughter Riley, 3, has stolen the hearts of pretty much everyone in the country – and that includes President Barack Obama. “But he will have another opportunity”.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr notices a difference in the Thunder offense this season, which has led to a difference in Russell Westbrook.
Reflecting on their astonishing streak, Obama said: ‘Let’s face it, the Warriors are in the middle of a very special two-year run. “Which, man, that doesn’t seem fair”.
“I can’t imagine how that feels”, he said in a tone tinged with more than a little sarcasm.
‘Consider this a symbol of an offer that’s coming, ‘ Kerr said as he presented Obama with the jersey and the president demonstrated his shooting form. “He just made them”. They became the 10th team in National Basketball Association history to win at least 67 games – a franchise record – and the first Western conference team to win 39 games at home in a single season.
Green played college basketball with the Michigan States University from 2008 to 2012. It’s handsome to watch when they’re working on all cylinders’.
Obama nodded and mimicked a jump shot – although hoops fans know Obama would rather sign with his beloved hometown Chicago Bulls.
When Curry was asked if Obama believes the Warriors can beat the 1995-96 Bulls’ 72-win record, he said the president mentioned it in his speech so the team assume so. “Although maybe Teddy Roosevelt used it somewhere in there, I don’t know”.
