Allegri set to bring his backroom staff to Chelsea
The reports suggest that if Allegri does turn down Chelsea’s offer, the next in line will be former Juve coach Antonio Conte whose contract with the Italian national team ends this summer.
Guus Hiddink is now serving as the interim boss at Stamford Bridge, but the club are keen to identify their next full-time manager as soon as possible and it seems they have made their choice.
The Italian coach has been heavily linked with a move to the west of London of late, with suggestions that he’s ‘agreed’ a deal with the Blues have been circulating.
However, it appears Roman Abramovich and the board may have narrowed down on the Juventus boss, with a four-year deal worth £5.3 million per season being drafted for Allegri according to calciomercato.com (via Daily Express). But he looks set to become Chelsea’s fifth Italian manager following Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Roberto Di Matteo and Carlo Ancelotti.
The Juventus manager led his side to the Champions League final last term, as well as guiding his side to win a Serie A and Coppa Italia double.
Chelsea have been in the market for a new manager since sacking Jose Mourinho in December, with the Blues mounting the worst title defence in Premier League history under the Portuguese.
