Pellegrini: Man City role is just a job
The ESPN FC crew debate whether the current top four in the Premier League will remain there by the end of the season.
Guardiola, who won back-to-back German league titles with Bayern and is on course for a third after joining in 2013, agreed a three-year contract with City this week and will begin work ahead of next season. It may be a misplaced contest at first glace, but the Foxes have stamped their credentials firmly on the title race and will be desperate to retain the initiative in one of their biggest tests.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says he will be not be overly emotional when he leaves the club this summer.
A spokesperson for the BBC said: “Despite continued efforts to schedule Manchester City’s FA Cup 5th round visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, conflicting fixtures and safety concerns meant this was not possible, so Sunday was the only slot available”.
Pellegrini said: “We can win this game or lose this game and it will not finish the Premier League here”. Leicester will no doubt have him at the forefront of their minds when it comes to players that they must stop if they are to come away with a positive result. “I’m very anxious for a lot of things”.
Yet the Foxes weathered a potentially ruinous slump over the Christmas period as three wins in their last four games catapulted them back to the top.
There is no denying that when Premier League fixtures were first announced, many would have looked at the Sunday’s showdown between Manchester United and Chelsea as the title decider, but in February, and with 24 games behind us, the Etihad is the weekend’s key fixture.
In his three seasons at City, Pellegrini has usually fielded strong teams in the domestic knockout cups.
“We have a lot of high-profile games coming up and they come thick and fast in all competitions”. We believe we are working well.
“I think all the people understand we are doing something extraordinary so far. I was so bored last time that I tried to make you a little bit more amused!”
Aguero edged Liverpool forward Firmino, Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe and Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli to the monthly prize.
“For me it is the best season because we have such a small difference between one team and another that every game is a final”.
“We believe in the next match”.
