Iowa State has suspended forward Jameel McKay indefinitely, the school announced Friday. Niang, a finalist for the Karl Malone Award, leads the Cyclones and ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring (19.1) to go along with 6.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
Jeffrey Carroll scored 18 points and had seven rebounds for Oklahoma State (11-12, 2-8).
McKay was averaging 12.4 points and 9.0 rebounds a game, with 10 offensive rebounds in his last two games. The freshman averages 12.9 points, and scored 42 points against Oklahoma.
Iowa State has dropped two straight games and Oklahoma State has lost three of its last four games.
Six missed shots later, Deonte Burton finally got the Cyclones on the board, a 3-pointer on an inbounds play. McKay scored a season-high 25 points against Chicago State on November 16, but he has not topped 19 points in conference play.
The Cyclones face Oklahoma State today at 1 p.m.
