Donald Trump shushes Jeb Bush, gets booed at GOP debate
Christie came out strong against Sen. The crowd went wild as Christie twisted the knife: “See Marco-Marco, the thing is this”.
Rubio said he was proud of his service in the Senate and suggested that Obama’s “problems” were less about experience and more about ideology.
“Rubio is a gifted politician but we did that with President Obama, who has divided the country”, said Gov. Jeb Bush, comparing Rubio to the president – both first-term senators when they launched their presidential bids. Barack Obama wants us to abandon those principles that he has spent seven years putting in place policies that rip them from us: “undermining the Constitution, undermining free enterprise, undermining our standing in the world, weakening America, apologizing for us on the global stage”. “You have not been involved in a consequential decision, where you had to be held accountable”, he said. “When you talk about the Hezbollah Sanctions Act that you list as one of your accomplishments you just did, you weren’t even there to vote for it. That’s not leadership, that’s truancy”.
Case in point: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s heated exchange with Florida Senator Marco Rubio. But Christie accused Rubio of resorting to “a memorised 30-second speech”.
Mr. Christie shot back that Mr. Rubio was reverting to “the memorized 25-second speech”.
He shook hands and took photos at a Manchester restaurant, including with a pair who said they had family in Ohio.
Democrats also got in on some of the fun.
Throughout the week, a feud had been playing out between Ben Carson and Sen.
The potential Rubio voter is likely more conservative, and if Rubio lost that guy last night, he might be won instead by Ted Cruz – who began badly with a deceitful explanation of his own campaign voting trick against Ben Carson, but was calm and occasionally even moving the rest of the night. The rumors were confirmed by The New York Times. Carson implied he was not impressed with Cruz’s face-to-face apology.
Carson said Saturday that the actions of Cruz’s campaign were an example of “Washington ethics” as he tried to portray himself and not Cruz as a true outsider candidate.
Shortly after Cruz blamed CNN, the network issued a statement calling the allegation “categorically false”. Republican and Democratic nominees who didn’t win the Iowa caucus include Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Mitt Romney and John McCain, among others. “The fact that Senator Cruz continues to knowingly mislead the voters about this is astonishing”.
Mr. Bush appeared nearly itchy to pile onto Mr. Rubio, at one point saying to Mr. Christie, “Chris, why don’t you mention my name so I can get into this”, and then mocked Mr. Rubio for inexperience.
Donald Trump seemed to be benefiting from being out of the fight until a freakish moment when he literally told Jeb Bush to be quiet.
However, Bush said Trump used “eminent domain to try to take the property of an elderly woman on the strip in Atlantic City”.
The billionaire businessman had just said he approved of eminent domain, in which the government forcibly takes private property-with compensation-to complete projects for public use. “I would bring back waterboarding and I would bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding“, he declared.
