Hillary Clinton Tries to Woo Young Voters in New Hampshire
Secretary Clinton won this state in 2008. The change in the final tally comes days after Democratic Party officials had said there wouldn’t be a review of the caucus results despite the claims of discrepancies and Hillary Clinton’s tiny margin of victory over Bernie Sanders.
The polls in the primary after New Hampshire – South Carolina, where blacks are 50 percent of the Democratic electorate – show Clinton with around a 30-point lead. It is also the last time the two candidates will meet before the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. Sanders’ strength with younger voters only heightens the threat he poses to what was once her decisive national lead. “I think it’s kind of divided”, he said, “I think there’s a lot of Hillary supporters but I personally don’t like her because I truly think she’s a pawn in the game to the corporate leaders”.
“This is what’s real to me, going inside someone’s home and talking to them about what’s on their mind and having a chance to give them my ideas”, Clinton said. Bernie Sanders just narrowly lost to Hillary Clinton in Iowa’s Democratic caucus.
The 100 Club began as an annual dinner in 1959 when New Hampshire supporters of John F. Kennedy organized the event to raise his profile in the Granite State. Instead of casting a ballot, like Republicans do in their caucuses, Democrats organize into groups supporting each candidate, then reshuffle if some candidates do not earn enough support. She said that “President Sanders” had voted against such a measure.
Clinton, meanwhile, faced a tough crowd of voters during an afternoon town hall meeting at New England College in Henniker.
“Our Democratic candidates have run spirited campaigns focused on how to best move our country forward, and our upcoming debate in Flint, Michigan is a critical setting to highlight what’s at stake in these elections”, said DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Most of the broadcasts will be live from New Hampshire, where ABC is hosting Saturday night’s Republican presidential debate.
Sanders joined David in a skit about saving passengers on the Titanic, where he railed against the 1 percent and poked fun at the difference between socialism and Democratic socialism. “We’ve got to get to the bottom of what’s going on here and I hope that will happen”. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh was dispatching dozens of organizers to the state while a number of veterans of past Clinton campaigns, including many from Arkansas, were knocking on doors and staffing phone banks this weekend.
Jeb Bush, his campaign lagging, brought in his mom, former first lady Barbara Bush, who praised him as “decent and honest and everything we need in a president”.
“I think it’s time to end the very artful smear that you and your campaign have been carrying out in recent weeks”, Clinton said to a splattering of boos from the audience.
