Romney, Gingrich to ABC: Put Fiorina on stage
ABC and the Republican National Committee made it clear what the criteria would be to get into the debate: placing among the top three finishers in the Iowa Caucuses, placing among the top six in an average of national polls, or placing among the top six in an average of New Hampshire polls.
Mrs. Fiorina argued that her seventh-place finish in Iowa, which was better than Ohio Gov. John Kasich and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who both qualified, should have earned her a second look.
ABC News announced the lineup for Saturday’s GOP presidential debate in Manchester late Thursday evening. First, a candidate could place among the top three in the Iowa caucuses.
“The voters of Iowa voted, And in the vote I beat Christie, I beat Kasich, I tied (Jeb) Bush for delegates. Don’t exclude only woman”. Rand Paul, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Pennsylvania Sen.
Fiorina’s unsuccessful appeal to ABC to join the debate was supported by big-name Republicans Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich as well as two of her rivals, Cruz and Carson. She’s a real candidate – or, at least, much more of a candidate than Gilmore, who doesn’t really do much campaigning.
For the fifth year in a row, thousands of New Hampshire elementary students participated in a mock first-in-the-nation primary vote, conducted by New Hampshire Public Television, and the results were not really surprising, considering the state of the race in the Granite State.
Republicans are calling on ABC News to change its criteria for Saturday’s GOP debate in New Hampshire, complaining that rules announced before the Iowa caucuses are set to block Carly Fiorina from the stage. Even though it’s a charter member of the liberal media that is the one doing the excluding, ABC’s competitors will have little trouble in criticizing the GOP for a lack of diversity (notwithstanding the presence of Ben Carson). Carly Fiorina, despite having more cash on hand, and having beat out several of those who did qualify for the debate, didn’t make the cut.
“She has worked hard, won a diligent campaign”, Cruz told reporters in Weare, New Hampshire, adding that her presence on stage would be a “beneficial element”. You know what that tells me?
She also accused other campaigns of keeping her from the debate. Fiorina said. “Some of them lobbied actively not to have me on that stage”.
Kasich himself is the beneficiary of such a super PAC, called New Day for America. Kelly Ayotte, Nebraska rising star Sen.
Part of the problem is the elimination of the so-called undercard debate, where Fiorina faced off against other low-polling candidates like Rick Santorum, who has now dropped out.
