Clinton surges in N.H. poll but Sanders leads by 17 percent
Hillary Clinton turned to four female members of the United State Senate on Friday in New Hampshire to make her case for the presidency, and to cast her opponent, Sen.
The occasionally rowdy crowd showed off the primary battle with the New Hampshire primary three days away.
Just minutes later, she got tangled in a question about a part of her resume that is an enduring mystery. Sanders’ strength with younger voters only heightens the threat he poses to what was once her decisive national lead.
The former Democratic presidential candidate later claimed that “there has not been a single time for the last 25 years, where the right-wing has gone after it – and the media has dutifully followed up the inquiry – where they have found one thing – not Whitewater; not Vince Foster’s suicide – none of this stuff”. In fact, several of them were offended when she brought the line up pointing to the fact that, “How could I be an establishment?” In comparison, Clinton has nearly total name recognition among voters.
Taking a veiled jab at Clinton, Sanders pointed to his oppositon to the war in Iraq as an example of an unpopular choice he has made. “Well, New Hampshire’s never quit on me and I’m not going to quit on you”. They hope, though, that Clinton can start to find the sweet spot for the stump speech that she will have to use in what is looking like a more drawn out contest against Sanders.
Among Sanders supporters, 19 percent said they could change their mind before Tuesday. “And not only should members who are elected be working for the people, not raising money – if you think you could simply divide your brain in half, if you’re working on unemployment or health care and think, now I’ve gotta go out and raise money, it affects your entire being”, he said.
“I’ve got their number”, she said, “the Wall Street guys”. “That’s the revolution”, said Michigan Sen.
One article said a Sanders online video ad entitled “Endorsement” gave the “misleading impressions” that he had received the endorsement of the Nashua Telegraph by citing a positive quote from one of the newspaper’s editorial.
The party also spent $60,000 on ads for Sanders and contributed $100,000 to the Vermont Democratic Party – which was behind Sanders even as he ran as an independent.
The day before, his campaign scheduled a press conference to tout the endorsement of former NAACP president Ben Jealous.
Sanders is not wrong in calling the results a “tie”. He was quickly dispatched to SC for campaign events on Saturday with Erica Garner, whose father died in 2014 after a white NY police officer put the black man in a choke hold.
“Increasingly, Democratic voters are exhausted of waiting for their policies to become law”.
Five leading presidential candidates will join CNN anchor Jake Tapper on Sunday for a special, commercial-free edition of “State of the Union”. “But if you look at Sanders he has been solid as concrete with regards to his passion for racial, social and economic justice”.
