2 dead, others wounded, during Orlando nightclub shooting
Two are dead and 10 others are injured following an early morning shooting at a nightclub in the Orlando tourist district, police said.
Orlando police were called to the Glitz Ultra Lounge on Universal Boulevard just before 1 a.m. Of those nine, one died at the hospital; one is in critical condition, the rest are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Not all of the people who were injured were shot.
In addition to the off-duty officers, the club has its own security, police said.
As many as three shooters were being sought.
Guido says, although the club has a troubled passed she says, “The club really did everything it is supposed to do”.
Orlando police say no officers were involved in the shooting.
“All of the shots that were fired last night were fired inside the club”, department spokeswoman Michelle Guido told reporters. It’s unclear what led to the shooting or whether any suspects have been identified.
It was the second mass shooting at a Florida nightclub this weekend. “Thank God we were running late. So insane”, Stephanie Tjada tweeted. In June, a man was hurt ducking for cover when a gun was sacked outside the club.
