Schools closed as snow hits New England
Just two days after an unexpected system dumped up to a foot of snow, downed trees and power lines, and left tens of thousands without electricity, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said Sunday morning to expect more of the same.
The winter storm watch lasts from Monday morning until Tuesday morning.
“I hate snow”, said Bruce Schulman, a Boston University history professor who was waiting at Boston’s South Station to take a train to NY.
Numerous accidents and spin-outs were reported on New England highways, but there were no other immediate reports of serious injuries.

Officials in MA and CT warned motorists to stay off roadways and the region’s main airport, Boston Logan International, reporting that about one in five flights had been canceled, with service to NY most effected.
About 89,000 home and businesses were without power in MA and 55,000 outages were reported in CT, according to state officials and local utilities.
The heavy snow brought down tree limbs, causing power problems for many.
“Basically this storm is going impact both the morning and evening commutes in the Worcester and Boston areas”, Dunham said.
Many school districts in the region closed for the day, including in some in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Travel was treacherous; police across the region reported dozens of spinouts. Meteorologist Mal Walker in Caribou says Maine’s eastern tip could see up to 11 inches.
And it could be even worse in Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and the islands, where 6 to 10 inches are possible, the forecasters said.
