Need new work culture of completing projects before time: Modi
Bhubaneswar: Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark against Congress on delays in completion of projects, Odisha PCC today blamed the erstwhile NDA government for non-completion of IOCL’s Paradip refinery. “I would have felt happy had this project been completed at least 15 years ago…(there isn’t) any pride in inaugurating a project that should have been completed years ago”.
“Innovation is a prerequisite at all times, for every era and every society”.
“For the development of the country, we all – citizens, bureaucracy, industry and policymakers – have to give birth to such a culture where projects start on time, progresses within the scheduled time, and finishes within the pre-decided time so that the country gets the benefit, (and) the benefit comes before scheduled time”, he said.
Prime minister Narendra Modi on Sunday stressed on the need for the timely implementation of the mega projects so that the country and the people could get the maximum benefit out of them.
Over thirty four thousand five hundred crore rupees Paradip refinery is the most advanced in the world and is equipped with the latest technology. “This will take gas cylinders to the homes of the poor”, Modi said in a series of tweets. “When a rural woman cooks for 1 hour, the smoke she inhales is equivalent to 400 cigarettes”. “There is one family which is not ready to let this government function”, the PM said while addressing a huge public rally of tea garden workers in eastern Assam on Friday.
The prime minister had remained silent also over Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s demand of special category status for Odisha, he said adding “Modi going mute on this issue speaks volumes about how much he loves Odisha”. “We don’t want the youth to be job-seekers; they should be job-creators”, said the prime minister.
After meeting requirement of sugar sector, surplus cane can be used to produce ethanol, he said. PM said to Sudarsan that I know you very well and I have seen your “Welcome to Odisha” sand art. Pm praised Sudarsan for his sand art on current topics and social issues. While stressing on energy conservation, the PM said: “If 100 (smart) cities use LED bulbs, the country will save 20,000 MW power”.
The prime minister also exhorted the NISER scholars to help foster scientific temper among schoolchildren.
