Celine Dion speaks for 1st time about late husband Rene Angelil

Singer Celine Dion udpated her profile picture on Facebook today showing her hugging her late husband, Rene Angelil, from what appears to be backstage at a show.

The pop star said he kept her grounded and protected her from the gritty business details of her superstar career. Rene Angelil dies last month following a battle with cancer.

“I feel his love in this room”, she said. Dion claimed her husband of 21 years was coming through to her via the audience members, stating that she could feel the love he had for her shining through each of them.

He was buried January 22 after a ceremony at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, where René-Charles presented the eulogy.

Dion will not be singing at tonight’s event but will make an appearance.

Poor thing! The 47-year-old not only thanked her loyal fans for their support but also went on to remember the father of her children.

The Celebration of Life tribute honored Angelil and the couple’s love story. He had three sons with Dion, who took a year-long hiatus to care for her spouse before he died.

He guided her career most of her life, most critically as she learned a new language to sing in English to become a widespread global success.

Foster will play “The Color of My Love” on piano – the same song he played at Dion and Angelil’s wedding reception in 1994.

“He protected me from day one (and) for the rest of my life, I am pretty sure of that”, she said.
