Panthers get Super news with Jared Allen’s return to practice field
As a safety on the Carolina Panthers football team, he’ll be busy playing the Denver Broncos at Super Bowl 50. Davis broke his arm in January during the team’s NFC Championship victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Despite the recent procedure, he was a full participant in practice all week and wore a protective device to keep his arm secure.
Some key defensive players are set to return to the lineup for the Carolina Panthers, despite breaking bones during the playoffs. Speaking to Charlotte Observer reporter Jonathan Jones after the Panther’s Wednesday practice, Davis said he “took every opportunity that I could to bump it against something and really see how it feels”. He and Kubiak have been doing this long enough to know that players win games – not coaches – and fittingly, both talked liking the way both their teams have looked this week. Guard Louis Vasquez (knee) was limited earlier in the week but was listed as probable for Sunday.
“Come and watch me play in the Super Bowl – from my own couch!” the listing reads.
“There’s usually one session during the week when they are over the top”, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. But having Allen out there, after he missed the NFC title game with the foot injury, was the day’s truly big news. “That felt pretty good'”.
Whiteclouds was able to ship the brace to Davis just in time for practice this week.
He walked over to Davis and asked him the obvious question, one with an answer he knew: “Did you break your arm?” Before the Panthers began a red zone segment, equipment assistant Greg Almond ran a route – and Newton hit him with a ideal strike in the end zone. “She’s like oh, I’ve got all these things, and I was just like baby, just go to sleep, alright?”
Picked up by Indianapolis Colts, Addison played four more games in 2011.
Harper’s voice is one among many on a Carolina team stocked with veterans like Charles “Peanut” Tillman, linebacker Thomas Davis and Jared Allen. They lost Kelvin Benjamin, their star wide receiver in the preseason, but then went nearly unscathed through their 15-win season, save running back Jonathan Stewart missing a few weeks at the end.
Rivera said Friday “We are pleased with what we got from both of those guys”.
