Pellegrini rallies City fans after Guardiola appointment
Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola says there is no conflict between his current position and preparing for his future role at Manchester City.
He has a deal that runs until 2018 and would cost around £35m but Barcelona have never been a club to stand in the way of players on the very rare occasions that they want to leave.
“I was so bored in the last press conference that I tried to make it interesting”, he said.
It was the most sensational win to date of Leicester’s 12-month rise from the bottom to the top of the table and left Claudio Ranieri’s side six points clear of City, making them the bookmakers’ favourites to win the title.
Manuel Pellegrini is on a collision course with the Football Association after Manchester City’s FA Cup tie against Chelsea was moved to just three days before the club’s Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev. “For me, I must do what I feel is best for the club, to play with the strongest team we can in the Champions League”, he said.
“They also had other chances so I do not complain about one action of the game”. Chelsea play their Champions League game on the Tuesday before.
“We’ll see what happens between Arsenal and Leicester. There are too many things that can happen with 39 points more to play for – but this was a defeat we didn’t expect”.
“It just depends on what they can do from now until the end of the season but having to play 13 more games it is very hard to predict”. “I think the first goal was very good for our confidence and then we closed all the space”. “Maybe they have their reasons but my duty is to do for this team what I think is best and if we play on Sunday I think it’s better not to play with the “professional” players”.
Van Gaal has found himself under pressure for some disappointing United performances this season, but Herrera believes it would be “unfair” to sack the Dutchman.
“We have to take two points every match between now and the end of the season to arrive at 79 points”.
“I can do things simultaneously”.
