Megyn Kelly Hopes Donald Trump Shows Up at Next Fox GOP Debate
On ABC’s Good Morning America Friday, Fox News host Megyn Kelly described the experience of being singled out by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as “bizarre”, and said she hopes Trump shows up for the next GOP debate on Fox.
“And I’ve always like pressure to be honest with you, I actually like pressure and we came out very well”, Trump said.
Asked by Todd about his history of disparaging comments directed at Fox News reporter Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump defended his handling of the situation.
Trump later said that decision might have hurt him and contributed to his second-place finish behind Texas Sen.
“He said it was about me, then it was about a statement my boss put out, then it was about a gum wrapper on the floor, there were a lot of reasons that he gave”, Kelly said. He was not the only one who got tough questions.
“He’s electrified the Republican base”, she added.
And he’ll probably win Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.
“FOX News Channel will air the two-hour debate live at 9 p.m”, says the Detroit affiliate, Fox 2 News. First it was Dr. Ben Carson and his long sighs, then it was Ted Cruz who can’t seem to shut up about his opponent, even at a debate that Trump was absent for.
But Trump suggested he faced more pressure than most, with pundits saying in the days leading up to the debate that his performance would be crucial in the final slog to the New Hampshire contest.
Fallon praised Kelly for not bowing to Trump’s boycott of the January 28 debate and asked her if Trump would be attending the upcoming Republican debate on March 3.
Still, she stood by her tough questions for Trump. The sister network of Fox News, Fox Business, has also hosted two debates in the cycle.
Trump followed up his debate confirmation by stressing that his previous no show was not related to Kelly. Arguing that he wouldn’t be treated fairly at the debate, Trump instead held a “special event to benefit veterans organizations” at the same time. “I mean, I did the right thing”.
