Hillary Clinton: ‘I Don’t Know’ If Winning New Hampshire Will Happen
Sanders did have a 2-to-1 edge in the latest CNN/WMUR New Hampshire tracking poll as recently as Saturday, but that margin narrowed slightly in a poll out Sunday.
His message connects with younger people.
Anyone wavering on support for Clinton may have found another reason to back Sanders as he or she stood on line in the frigid cold.
“I’m just going to work as hard as I can”, Clinton told CNN’s Jake Tapper smiling. “I happen to share it”. Bernie Sanders, has opened a campaign headquarters in Flint.
The Sanders rally in Portsmouth was a reminder of his depth of his support here. The issue here, however, is not that voters want transcripts from every single speech that Clinton has given throughout the history of her political career-a demand that is as impossible as it is irrelevant. Since then he has garnered younger voters with his stances. Clinton was backed by almost 70 percent of those 65 and older.
“The people who have worked with me, in fact, who have worked with us both, are supporting me”, Clinton said.
However, she added a Clinton talking point.
“I am impressed by the quality of his foreign policy”, Sanders said – the polar opposite position from GOP rival Marco Rubio, who spent last night’s debate repeating the accusation that the president is intentionally trying to diminish America. But a Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted in January suggests she may have cause for concerns there, too. It was the only time Sanders mentioned Clinton’s name directly, though he also alluded to some of her past high-paid speeches. Corbin, who lives in Brooklyn, said she was left unswayed. I have never, ever been influenced in a view or a vote by anyone who has given me any kind of funding. I’ve always been guided by the same values. “I’m going to Flint, Michigan”.
On Sunday, Clinton further scolded Sanders for being part of the near-unanimous House vote in favor of the 2000 Commodity Futures Modernization Act. “She gives a lot of canned answers and faux anger”. She called on Congress to pass a $200 million bill to replace Flint’s current water infrastructure. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh was dispatching dozens of organizers to the state while a number of veterans of past Clinton campaigns, including many from Arkansas, were knocking on doors and staffing phone banks this weekend. The shift in rhetoric may raise questions about who and what Clinton really is. As Clinton won with 49.9 percent of delegates, Sanders trickled close behind at 49.6 percent.
“The Iowa caucus was basically what the Des Moines Register predicted it to be, and now it’s looking like Sanders will win New Hampshire”, Cook said.
There are also politics at play for the trip: Clinton’s appearance in a majority African-American city will resonate in early voting states like SC and Nevada, where minority voters make up large portion of the electorate.
The Sanders campaign criticized the former president’s rhetoric – characterized by the New York Times as “an escalation”. “I think we have seen some real momentum there”.
