Stephen Curry to bang ‘Keep Pounding’ drum
Bob Leverone/AP Warriors and NBA MVP Stephen Curry prepares to “Pound the Drum” before a Panthers game.
Steph Curry had no choice but to get out in front of the Carolina Panthers’ loss to the Denver Broncos, and he did so by trolling himself.
He’s buddies with Cam Newton (they can compare MVP trophies now) and even wore Panthers blue shoes in Saturday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Curry has been vocal about his support for the team for years, and he’s often photographed wearing Panthers’ gear and jerseys.
Now the Panthers are hoping Curry’s winning ways will rub off on Carolina one last time Sunday night.
“Congratulations on all the success so far but the job isn’t done”, Curry said in a Bleacher Report video.
“I remember watching Jake Delhomme, Muhsin Muhammad, Steve Smith – all the guys in that (2004) Super Bowl”.
The Panthers have a “Keep Pounding” tradition, in honor of the late linebacker Sam Mills, who told his team to “keep pounding” in an emotional pregame speech in a playoff at the end of the 2003 season.
“Keep pounding. I’m rooting for you”.
Stephen Curry isn’t really in the business of losing these days. “You’re fighters, too. Keep pounding”.
