Ferrari GTC4 Lusso: Classic name revived for latest four-seater from Maranello
It’s received a whole host of changes, and Ferrari has even gone so far as to give the thing a new name: no longer is it the FF, it’s now the GTC4Lusso. As for the GTC4Lusso, apparently the name was inspired by famous old Ferraris such as the 330 GTC, 330 GT and 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso.
Under the skin, Ferrari has done more, with the GTC4 getting the FF’s 6.3 litre V12 but with power increased to 681bhp (up by 30bhp on the FF), and an increase in torque to 550lb/ft.
Front-seat passengers also get some new technology to play with.
More to come about Ferrari’s grandest once it hits the stage at the Geneva Motor Show. Meanwhile, the steering wheel has been given a newer and more compact design, with two new buttons for answering the phone and activating Siri, or the car’s own virtual assistant.
Retaining the FF’s four-wheel-drive system and space for four adults, plus a boot and new-generation damper control, the GTC4 Lusso is created to be a practical weekend auto that combines Ferrari performance with Range Rover comfort.
Just last week we had a tease for the Ferrari FF facelift, and now it’s arrived.
The GTC4Lusso is part of Chairman Sergio Marchionne’s effort to boost Ferrari deliveries to 9,000 cars in 2018 from about 7,600 a year ago.
Ferrari has also updated the AWD system by adding for the first time ever rear-wheel steering.
Performance with the upgraded engine is staggering, with a 0-62 miles per hour time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 208 miles per hour.
A browse of the cars for sale on Driving.co.uk revealed one FF with the desired mileage: a 11,512-mile vehicle advertised for £162,990, representing a saving of nearly 32% on the current list price.
