Matt Damon in Jason Bourne
After taking a break from the Bourne franchise, Matt Damon returns to the shaky cam spy genre he helped create.
The first official trailer for Jason Bourne was unveiled at the Super Bowl on the night of February 7. Jason Bourne is the next film in the Bourne series, in which Matt Damon plays a Central Intelligence Agency assassin who has completely lost is memory and has to go on a long, dangerous, and very exciting/expensive to produce journey to discover who he is.
We just got a lot of questions answered with the premiere of the new Jason Bourne movie during the Super Bowl. Robert Ludlum created the Bourne character in his series of novels, which after his death, were continued by writer Eric Van Lustbader. What does that mean for you in terms of plot? Universal Studios chose to release a spin-off movie in 2012 titled “Bourne Legacy”, which featured a different agent.
From a recent Damon interview, we’ve learned that the actor wouldn’t have been apart of the project if Greengrass hadn’t had reprized his directing role. We also have Tommy Lee Jones in the movie, and he’s kind of representing the analog Central Intelligence Agency in the way the old guard thinks.
As revealed by Damon, the new film picks up with Bourne “in a dark and tortured place”. It also shows that Jason Bourne might be remembering something from his past even though he was diagnosed with amnesia during the previous movies.
Frank Marshall is producing “Jason Bourne” alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment.
