Bruins Greet Special Olympics Athletes

Ireland worldwide Robbie’s wife was on hand to see three Irish athletes winning medals on the first day of the Special Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

“Ryder’s support of the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles is a testament to the company’s long history of charitable activity and community outreach”, said Richard Mohr, vice president of Ryder Rental Operations.

Commenting on the importance of the Games, Colin Farrell said: “It is such an honour to be anywhere close to the experience that these athletes are having and the effort that they put in to the games and they put into their chosen fields and all the volunteers as well”.

“Coach Tiger asked us to bring a couple of letters of encouragement from people who are very close to her”, Bobo said.

“Ever since 2003 when we hosted the games at home in Ireland it has been something that has kind of lived in me”.

Ryder System is a bronze champion sponsor of the Special Olympics World Games, the global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports. “If you know a little bit about the Special Olympics and you get involved, you’ll fall in love with it”. Two construction projects near UCLA – one on Strathmore Drive and the other on Sunset Boulevard and Hilgard Avenue – may also contribute to heavier traffic. For those planning to drive to UCLA, officials advise parking in structures 4 and 7 and avoiding structure 3 because of the construction on Hilgard Avenue.

The closing ceremony will take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Sunday at 6 p.m.
