Capcom Registers Trademark for Resident Evil Umbrella Corps
Who knows, it could be the final name for Resident Evil 7. Could this be the next game in the franchise?
The trademark was originally registered at Europe’s Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM); that trademark was just for ‘Umbrella Corps.’ However, a Japanese filing for Biohazard Umbrella Corps (Biohazard is the Japanese name for Resident Evil) does have the franchise brand attached to it. Aside from the name registration, the application document secured by the site mentioned a wide range of gaming platforms including “portable consoles with LCD screens, TV Home Consoles and Mobile”. Resident Evil and soon Resident Evil 0 are keeping the fans happy to some extent and Resident Evil Revelations has been a good spin-off but we need something a little more substantial. For those unfamiliar, Biohazard is basically what Resident Evil is referred to back in Japan.
Forbidden Planet manager Jeff Ayers shows two generations of the video game “Resident Evil” March 15, 2002 in New York City. To guess what a game based around Umbrella could be is tricky, but hopefully if this is Resident Evil 7, it will be in improvement on the last game. GameSpot has contacted Capcom for a statement on the listing. It’s believed “Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps” could be the new title for the game.
Although this move could pertain to a mobile game for Nintendo 3DS, people have been very keen on assuming that this move is related to Resident Evil 7 called The War Ends Now.
