Clinton Supporter Granholm Goes Full Birther on Ted Cruz
Ted Cruz was again confronted with the erroneous information disseminated by his campaign staff that Dr. Ben Carson was withdrawing from the race on the evening of the Iowa caucus.
This time, Trump made a show of distancing himself from the insult he had just repeated: “You’re reprimanded, okay?” The 52-year-old woman from Salem, New Hampshire, said the Trump event was her first political rally of the cycle, but described herself a “huge Trump supporter”. “Is it OK?’ And honestly, I thought he’d say ‘absolutely” and he didn’t. Washington ethics. Washington ethics basically says, if it’s legal, you do what you need to do in order to win. “And then when the clarification was put out by Ben Carson saying it’s untrue, they got the statement and they didn’t put it out”, Trump said Wednesday. Ted Cruz (Tx.), for not being sufficently in favor of waterboarding (even though Cruz described the practice as “not torture” at Saturday’s debate).
His exact quote: “You’re not allowed to say, and I never expect to hear that form you again, she said, ‘he’s a pussy, ‘ that’s awful”. Somebody in the crowd shouted “Fire Palin!” and the audience cheered.
With a cheeky grin he added: “What kind of people do I have here, okay?” Then Clinton ran an ad featuring former Attorney General Eric Holder extolling her leadership.
“He truly cares about the American people”, she said. But CNN said nothing about Carson dropping out. He said Trump as president “would have nuked Denmark”. Trump blew through several political norms – against acting like a sore loser, against making ridiculously unfounded allegations and, as always, against juvenile name-calling – by lashing out at Cruz for allegedly stealing the Iowa caucuses in the political crime of the century.
The night of the caucuses, the Cruz campaign called and sent messages to Iowa precinct captains suggesting that Carson could drop out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination. “I admire that about him”.
“We love you New Hampshire”, Melania told the crowd at the start of Trump’s speech. Two former rivals who also appeal to religious conservatives, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum (who endorsed Marco Rubio), have questioned Cruz’s truthfulness, too.
