Heavy Snow Expected in Southeast New England
Forecasters from the National Weather Service and Weather.com expect Monday’s highs temperatures to range in the lower 40s.

In case you needed more of an excuse to call in sick to work on Super Bowl Monday, that National Weather Service is warning of a storm that should reach the area in time for the morning commute. A cold front will approach the region on Monday, bringing snow showers and much colder air into the region.
A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect starting late Monday evening and lasting until early Thursday morning.
Strong gusts could limit visibility with blowing snow, and some coastal flooding is expected.
“We have been getting several reports of that and also are getting reports of power outages because it gets the wires down as well”, said Eleanor Vallier-Talbot, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Taunton, Massachusetts.
Many school districts the region closed for the day, including in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Locally higher snow totals are possible.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for other parts of the state.
Meanwhile those in the west along the NY boarder may see only an inch or two, or even less.
The rest of MA, plus Rhode Island and eastern CT, could see winter storm conditions with four to eight inches of accumulation Monday. The heaviest snowfall is expected to fall during Monday morning’s commute.
