Zayn Malik debuts at number one in the US
Pillowtalk becomes only the 25th song to debut at No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the first since fellow Brit Adele shot to the top with Hello in November.
To call One Direction a success story is a massive understatement.

Bowie has dominated the British album charts since his death last month and claimed top spot for the fourth week as the Best Of Bowie compilation – originally released in 2002 – replaced his final album Blackstar. It was speculated that he was going to pursue a career as a solo artist, and Malik himself confirmed this when he took to his Twitter account last June to tell his fans that he has signed up with RCA.

The song has been streamed online 22 million times and downloaded 267,000 times in the US.

Malik has pulled out of a number of interviews to promote the single, which is the first from his debut album which is released in March.
It is the first of Rihanna’s albums not to debut at number one since 2009, when Rated R entered the charts at number nine, but Anti is likely to climb in the coming weeks.
