Super Bowl 50: Denver Broncos beat Carolina Panthers
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning headed to Disneyland in California on Monday to celebrate the Broncos’ win in Super Bowl 50.
Instead it was a relentless Denver defense that can claim credit for the victory holding the Panthers’ number one ranked offence – that averaged over 31 points a game during the regular season – to a single touchdown and field goal.
He thanked many of his teammates by name and said he wanted to rattle off everyone on the 53-man roster.
A Disney theme parks commercial usually airs after the game; Sunday night marked just the second time since 1987 that it was not broadcast.
“It’s always a tremendous challenge”, Kubiak said of getting back to the title game.
Manning’s possible swansong stole the headlines but the story of the game was the Broncos defence’s harassment of recently-crowned 2015 MVP Cam Newton as they produced seven sacks and 13 quarterback hits. “I don’t know what you want me to say… we got outplayed”. “We had our opportunities and it was nothing special that they did”. Load the box, force ya’ll to throw the ball.
“Mr Elway, he’s played in the National Football League, he is one of the best GMs there is”, Miller said after becoming the 10th player from the defensive side of the ball to win the Super Bowl MVP accolade.
“He (Miller) has just gotten better and better”.
It’s not definitive at the moment, but from this report from Cole, it looks like Manning has played his last game.
It was after that statement that Newton got up and left, NFL.com reports. I think I’ll take some time after that. Newton hasn’t spoken to the media in his previous four seasons on the day players clean out their lockers, but he felt compelled to talk on Tuesday amid criticism of him. While it represented Colbert’s biggest audience ever, that was nearly a given – and it was the smallest audience for a post-Super Bowl program since 17.4 million people watched “Alias” on ABC in 2003.
