Mets Catch Baby Raccoon In Clubhouse Weight Room
Before the Mets hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field Sunday, they played host to another visitor: a baby raccoon. And why would the Mets have a cage on hand? Citi Field property borders Willets Point in Flushing, Queens – a mix of industrial properties (lots of auto mechanics) – along with parkland leftover from the World’s Fair in 1964.
When asked about the fact that the stadium crew had a cage on hand, Parnell told, “I guess they have a problem”.
ESPN reporter Adam Rubin first reported the incident on Twitter as the baseball team dealt with their unexpected guest.
“That was intentional”, Manager Terry Collins said.
How the raccoon managed to find its way into the weight room, no one knows. This wasn’t the first time the Mets had an animal in the clubhouse.
