Chelsea close to landing Brazilian full-back as Filipe Luis’ replacement
Chelsea are close to signing Galatasaray left-back Alex Telles, according to reports.
Telles, 22, has been with the Super Lig champions since 2013 and the Brazilian has impressed in Turkey, with the full-back being a reliable presence at the back.
No official confirmation of the switch has been announced as yet, but if Chelsea can secure Telles as a replacement, then it is likely that Luís will move on soon after.
Following the early departure of Brazil global Felipe Luis, Jose Mourinho had been in the market for a left back who could provide cover to Spain worldwide, Cesar Azpilicueta.
David Amoyal of GianlucaDiMarzio.com reports that Chelsea “are in the final stages” of the negotiations to sign Telles and have beaten off other interested parties, such as Inter Milan and Juventus.
However, the Blues look unlikely to stop there, with Mourinho having also reportedly made a £15.5 million move for Napoli winger Jose Callejon, per James Dickenson in the Express. Telles was solid as he won 53% of his tackles and he won 43% of his headed duels.
If the transfer goes through, the 22-year-old would be the fifth Brazilian player in the Chelsea squad.
Meanwhile, going forward Telles created 11 chances but he failed to register a single assist.
