Newton defends actions after Super Bowl: I will not conform
“I’ve been on the record saying that I’m a sore loser”, Newton told reporters at the team’s practice facility in Charlotte on Tuesday. I don’t have to conform to anybody else’s wants for me to do. I told him just congratulations on his outstanding season and just what a great future he has ahead of him.
“I’m going to watch it from the comfort of my own home”.
Following their 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos’ victory parade will get started on Tuesday afternoon and is free and open to the public in downtown Denver.
“It’s every one of these guys who go me to this”, Miller said. Only one Carolina lineman saw the fumble. I fumbled – that’s fine. “But we didn’t lose the game because of that fumble”. “I want players who hate to lose”.
I’m guessing most, if not all, of Newton’s critics feel vindicated after Newton’s short press conference, where he displayed the Plorin trifecta – egotism, arrogance and poor sportsmanship. Did you want him to say that the Panthers blew their chances but that they dropped passes and turned over the ball and allowed too many sacks? “That is what you love in him”. I saw Cam Newton calculate, in a split second, that the possibility of getting hurt jumping on a loose ball was not worth risking for a mere championship ring. “I don’t know how to describe it. Listening to (the crowd celebrating) just makes me sick”.
“I think he was looking for the rebound”.
Newton, as chronicled by Bill Voth of BlackAndBlueReview.com in video form, said people shouldn’t be “quick to assume anything” about players on the Panthers.
“I was just focused on whether they’d go for two and knew that the defense had to step up, make some stops”, he said.
Denver Broncos general manager John Elway says it’s up to quarterback Peyton Manning to decide if he wants to come back. You can condemn and say, ‘He gave up, this, that and the third.’ But, hey, as long as my teammates know, as long as my coaches know, as long as anybody that’s following this team knows. We had two losses.
