With less than a quarter of the state’s votes reported at 8:45 p.m. ET, projections showed Sanders and Trump with commanding double-digit leads over their party rivals.
But there is still a gulf between establishment candidates like Rubio, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and the insurgent campaigns of Trump and Cruz, who criticize Republican leaders as much as they attack Democrats.

Many voters said they were voting for Trump, the man who singlehandedly turned the 2016 presidential race on its ear with his bombast.
Kasich, Bush and Christie all poured enormous resources into New Hampshire in hope of jumpstarting their White House bids in a state that has been friendly to moderate Republicans.
Each took the top spot after second-place finishes in the Iowa caucuses. Trump has said he wasn’t even familiar with the term “ground game”, but has now invested more in get-out-the-vote infrastructure in New Hampshire.
Still, both needed to deliver on expectations after second place finishes in last week’s lead-off Iowa caucuses, where Ted Cruz topped the Republican field and Hillary Clinton narrowly edged Sanders in the Democratic race.
The polls are open in New Hampshire.
“If he can do it for OH he can probably do it for the rest of America”, she said.
Bernie Sanders, hailing from next door Vermont, has led polling in the Democratic primary for months (the last few surveys suggest his lead has narrowed a little). He said a “good night” from his campaign would “show the American people that the voters in New Hampshire understand that this country needs a political revolution”.
In her post, Steinem said she had been “misinterpreted” and had also pointed out instances of a vigorous strain of feminism among today’s young women.
Trump’s numbers were lifted in New Hampshire by broad support among voters seeking a political outsider, anger at the Obama administration and strong worry about the economy and terrorism, along with substantial backing for some of his controversial policy proposals, exit polls indicate.
Ben Carson, bringing in only 2 percent of the votes, is already on his way to SC to prepare for the next round, his campaign team reiterating that he has not dropped out of the race.
Mr. Kasich had four town hall meetings and an election-eve rally in New Hampshire on Monday, the final day of campaigning before the primary vote.
