Winter weather bringing snow to SE Michigan
No official snow accumulation total is available for Wareham, but Simpson reported that 5.5 inches had fallen in nearby Sandwich as of 3:30 p.m.
The snow moving into New England Monday through early Tuesday will be from a strong area of low pressure passing well off the East Coast. Precipitation is expected to begin Monday morning, and off and on snow showers will last through Thursday morning.
Temperatures are forecast to reach the lower to mid-40s Monday afternoon and then drop down to freezing by dawn Tuesday. Low around 18. North-northwest wind around 18 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 26 miles per hour.
Today: A swath of snow south of Interstate 70 hasn’t moved much, and it’s expected to produce accumulating snowfall through the morning commute, said StormCenter 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini.
Wednesday night: Chance of snow showers.
According to the National Weather Service, throughout most of the week highs will not rise out of the 30’s and lows will dip into the low teens. “Wednesday’s high in the low 20’s”. Chance of precipitation is 90%. There is also a chance of snow Thursday and Friday. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Occasional light snow around a clipper system will start to exit by Tuesday.
“Kent County and the Grand Rapids metro area is not included in the warning or advisory, but occasional snow showers, slippery conditions, and accumulations there of about 2″ to 3” are likely. Wind chill values will be between 1 and 6 above zero.
