Bernie Sanders Won’t Demand Hillary Clinton Release Transcripts From Paid Speeches
Different from the complex caucus system that Iowa adopts to pick its favored presidential candidate, the New Hampshire primary is much more straightforward with voters casting secret ballots statewide.
Mike Briggs, spokesman for Sanders campaign, called Bill Clinton’s comments “disappointing”, in this statement to CNN.
Clinton campaigned throughout New Hampshire’s voter-rich southern belt in hope of overcoming Sanders’ steady lead heading into Tuesday’s first-in-the-nation primary. Secretary Clinton won this state in 2008. “We don’t want that crap”, Sanders spit out. “You’re just for me or against me”.
New Hampshire was the setting of Clinton’s upset victory against then-Illinois Sen.
A CNN analysis found Clinton collected at least $1.8 million for at least eight speeches to big banks, including Goldman Sachs and UBS, from the time after her husband, former President Bill Clinton, left the White House until she announced her presidential campaign last spring.
“I heard Jeb Bush, who is a total lightweight, I heard him say Marco Rubio is a very, very good friend of mine”.
The Sanders campaign has said it’s insulting to New Hampshire voters to suggest that they would only support him because he’s from the New England area.
Hopefully, Clinton and Sanders will get the chance to contrast themselves with their potential Republican opponents and show the world the difference between Democrats and Republicans on the basic issue of public health and welfare.
The Democratic presidential hopeful made a quick visit to Flint, an unusual stop for a candidate trailing in polls against rival Bernie Sanders in the first primary state.
“The voters in New Hampshire and in America deserve a campaign that focuses on the real issues”.
“I tried to loot information from the other guy’s computer and I raised a million dollars out of it”, Clinton laughed.
Clinton, meanwhile, faced a tough crowd of voters during an afternoon town hall meeting at New England College in Henniker. “That’s her decision. But I think it would be a positive thing for the American people to know what was said behind closed doors to Wall Street”.
Clinton said the attacks in Libya that killed four Americans happened under a “fog of war” and people on the ground had worked hard to understand what was happening as the attacks unfolded. She also said her plans were more fiscally responsible.
Clinton said she respected the “very strong passion that Senator Sanders brings to his critique of the economy and his critique of Wall Street”.
The former president went on, “When you’re making a revolution, you can’t be too careful about the facts”, drawing laughs.
“You know, I don’t mind being the subject in Republican debates, the subject in the Democratic primary”, she added.
However, Trump’s win in New Hampshire is not guaranteed, with Florida Senator Marco Rubio, the runner-up in the Iowa caucuses, surging to the second place.
“We’re not giving up at all. Every day, you know, they’re attacking us in one way or the other”.
