Lady Gaga wows with national anthem at Super Bowl 50
After kicking off proceedings on Sunday evening, all there was left for Gaga to do was enjoy herself and the singer certainly looked like she was doing that. Maybe he should have considered who he was collaborating with.
Midway through the anthem, Gaga’s eyes started misting – but she powered through the song, as clips of troops watching from Afghanistan flashed across the JumboTron at Levi’s Stadium. She will perform a tribute to the late, great David Bowie during the Grammy Awards on February 15. The site tracked popular Super Bowl searches by time, noting when players and performers were making waves online.
Lady Gaga explained, this is “one of the highest honors of my career”. She sang spiritedly into a silver microphone. “I was classically trained as a pianist and that innately teaches you how to write a pop song, because when you learn Bach inversions, it has the same sort of modulations between the chords”, Gaga told the Telegraph in an interview.
Taking on her Snapchat yesterday afternoon, Gaga confirmed that she is now mixing her fifth studio album, and anyone familiar with the album recording process will know that mixing if the final stage.
Even Elizabeth Banks, who played the character in the “Hunger Games” with a similar fashion sense, lauded her performance.
At 29 years old, she is now worth $59 million, according to Forbes, where her education is listed as a “drop out”. The fact is, no one is likely to ever compare to that performance.
This time, it was Gaga’s voice that made people gasp rather than her draw-dropping costumes.
Performing at one of the world’s biggest sporting events, the singer gave a show-stopping, pitch-perfect vocal performance and brought the theatrics with her shiny red pantsuit and platinum blonde hair that was literally reaching for the stars.
“He’s sort of like an alien prince”.
“I think it marks what being an American is all about – working hard and the ultimate payoff for the champion is hard work”, she said.
An Oscars performance will follow on February 28.
