Van Gogh’s bedroom recreated in Chicago as Airbnb rental
The painting depicts Van Gogh’s bedroom in the French home known as his Yellow House.
“I’m charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint”, it states. Well, one has, and you can now spend the night in it.
The single room, which is part of a larger apartment and comes with WiFi and a kitchen, is located just off the museum’s campus in Chicago’s River North neighborhood.
The Art Institute of Chicago is offering up a room for rent in one of Vincent Van Gogh’s iconic paintings.
If you’re interested, be sure to check it out on Airbnb ASAP, as we’re guessing spots will fill fast because of the affordability.
Have you ever walked through a museum gazing at the scenes painted by some of the greatest artists in the history of the world and thought to yourself, “Damn, I wish I could live in that painting”.

And it’s a steal at just $10 (£6.80) a night for two people (yes, that’s a double bed).
The room was replicated in order to promote an upcoming exhibition at the Art Institute.
In a letter to his friend Paul Gauguin, van Gogh explained that these paintings had come out of a period of being ill and bedridden. The initiative is in celebration of the institute’s new exhibition, Van Gogh’s Bedrooms, which opens this coming weekend.
Unfortunately, in case you were hoping to stay in the room, it seems like it’s all booked solid for February dates, although the Art Institute does note that it plans on offering more rentals in the future. Select dates in February are available now, according to the Art Institute, but more dates will becoming available soon.
