Vodafone gears up to launch 4G in Mumbai
Vodafone India has announced the roll out of its high speed 4G service in prominent business and residential corridors of Mumbai across the Western suburbs and South Mumbai in a phased manner.
The Mumbai launch follows similar 4G ventures in Delhi and the national capital region, Kolkata, Karnataka and Kerala, said company MD and CEO Sunil Sood. Vodafone is targeting to complete the 4G services roll out by March 2016.
Initially, it has started its services in Western suburbs and south part of Mumbai, and it came up with special offers for the 4G customers. “We are delighted to launch our high-speed 4G services in Mumbai forour customers to experience the most advanced wireless broadbandexperience available across the globe today”.
Telecom operators Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular are aggressively launching their 4G services to beat Reliance Jio in the game.
The service can be readily accessed from 4G-enabled handsets of leading smartphones like iPhone, Samsung, Micromax, Microsoft, Lava and Xolo and would significantly enhange the mobile internet experience with faster download/upload of videos, music, seamless video chats and greater ease in using apps. The 4G network is built on a fiber backhaul of 100G and supported by its 3G services on a new and modern network.
The telecom operator added that 4G users will get 4G global roaming access in the UK, Romania, Spain, and the Netherlands.
These circles together contribute close to 50% of its total data revenue, making it the largest data revenue market for the firm. With this launch, Vodafone India is now uniquely positioned to offer in Mumbai, 2G/3G/4G services on its own state of the art, convergent radio technology.
What’s the 4G rollout plan in Mumbai? . Vodafone has also thrown in subscription of Hooq premium video-on-demand service with the bundle.
Vodafone has made an investment of more than Rs 1,000 crore in 2015 to expand, modernize and building an energy efficient network.
It has already rolled out 4G-ready SIMs early in January in anticipation of the launch.
