LG G5 May Get Always-On Display
Based on the latest rumor, the LG company has validated the fact that the upcoming LG G5 will showcase the “Always ON” display element, this statement is official as it has been posted on their official Facebook page. The revelation of an “always on” display hints that either LG has fiddled with the battery life, or switched to OLED like a lot of its competitors use.
Interestingly, Samsung is trying to trademark the phrase “Always On Display”, suggesting that its upcoming S7 will have a very similar feature to the G5.
The same GIF also confirms the 21 February launch of LG G5 smartphone.
The Always-On feature requires an AMOLED display since this type of screen only needs power to the pixels that are lit at any given time. This particular feature may add value to the new LG smartphone, but it wont be enough to give LG a competitive edge over the rival device. Neurogadget stated on its article that the company has once again confirmed something about the LG G5- the “Always ON” display element.
OLED is called the next-gen display technology for some strong reasons, of which one is that it never consumes even the tiniest of power from the battery when using black-only display.
After dabbling with the unique, rear volume rocker setup, LG with the G5 is also expected to revert to a more traditional volume rocker placement, but this is also being done to incorporate a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone. This GIF of the first LG G5 feature to be officially revealed, obtained exclusively by Android Authority, shows that LG has included the same thinking in its radically redesigned G4 successor.
From what we’re being told, the LG G5 Always On display is actually a full-screen version of the V10’s second screen, rather than an AMOLED display.
