EE is UK’s best network, according to RootMetrics
EE has topped the latest RootMetrics UK national mobile network performance tests for 1st-half 2015.
EE won a clean sweep of all categories, providing customers with both the best speed and reliability. The company said it drove 24,000 miles in the first six months of the year to collect 1.1 million samples of network performance.
The networks have committed to reaching 90 per cent coverage of the UK landmass by 2017, but Chris Smith, RootMetrics’ European general manager told us that the methodology used for this test isn’t suitable for determining how close the networks are to this goal.
“Our growing reliance on our mobiles means network performance has a direct impact on our daily lives”.
“We want consumers and network operators to look at this report and use it to inform purchasing decisions and understand the areas where improvements can be made”.
RootMetric, a leading independent mobile analytics firm, compared EE, Three, Vodafone and O2, measuring network reliability, calls, texting, speeds, mobile internet, and overall performance. RootMetrics notes that O2 is not necessarily seeing any degradation in service, it’s just that the other operators seem to be improving at a faster rate.
Vodafone came third overall, according to RootMetrics, and took the bronze medal in all categories except network speed, where it came second, and call performance, where it came last.
The biannual survey of mobile networks conducted by RootMetrics has found that EE still leads the pack, and provides the best mobile phone coverage.
