Makes racially charged Facebook post about Super Bowl halftime show
News anchor Tomi Lahren flexed her First Amendment rights all over Beyonce and her fans… and took a strong stance against the Black Panthers. At one point in the performance, the dancers raised their fists to the sky and made a formation on the field in the shape of an X that, according to the sergeant, was attributed to black activist Malcolm X.
The sergeant was so displeased with the performance that he took his option to his personal Facebook page, saying next year’s halftime show should include the KKK. The image is a split image with Beyonce’s Black Panther Party clad dancers on top and the Ku Klux Klan on the bottom. It read: “If the dance troupe at the top is okay for this year’s half-time show, then the one at the bottom should be okay for next years’, right?”
But many Detroit police officers and the city’s chief of police believe that the sergeant’s racially charged post went too far.
The sergeant, who has not been named, remains on duty as the internal probe is conducted, Officer Dan Donakowski said Wednesday night. He added, “The Black Panthers are a subversive hate group in America”.
Chief of Police, James Craig, confirmed the investigation is underway and elaborated on the Facebook post.
But there are still some who sympathize with the sentiment expressed in the sergeant’s contentious post.
Others including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani also denounced Beyoncé’s performance.
Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, who is black, rebuked Beyonce’s half-time show in an interview with the Fox Business Network Monday. He said if another group had used the half-time show to promote racial separatism, the black community would be up in arms, calling the president, and protesting in the streets. The investigation and potential discipline that may or may not come out of this is strictly up to the department.
