NBC10: No warrant expected for LeSean McCoy until next week
Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy seems to be expecting some type of charge in connection with an assault that left two off-duty Philadelphia police officers in need of medical assistance.
The Buffalo Bills put out a statement Monday that reads: “We are aware of the reports regarding LeSean McCoy and are in the process of gathering more information”.
Investigators recommended McCoy be charged with aggravated assault.
Philadelphia Police have acknowledged that McCoy was present at the bar that night, but have not specified if he played a role in the incident.
Philadelphia’s district attorney’s office said Tuesday that it has received the case from police and is reviewing it for potential charges. It also reported that Jack McMahon withdrew himself as McCoy’s lawyer and that Larry Krasner will now represent McCoy.
It appears McCoy said: “I made a mistake, but sooner or later I’ll have my say”.
The Philadelphia Police Department says the argument began as a possible misunderstanding over a bottle of champagne. The video was shaky, and the response was muffled, but PhillyInfluencer.com reported that McCoy said, “I made a mistake”.
According to officials, the man was punched, kicked, and stomped about his body and head multiple times by all four suspects.
Officer Roland Butler was treated at a hospital for a laceration to his right eye, broken nose, broken ribs and sprained thumb. The off-duty police officers involved will reportedly not face charges.
When the second officer, also 40, intervened with security guards, he was also injured, police said.
TMZ released a video, in which McCoy is reportedly spotted involved in the scuffle, and now a new video captures on camera McCoy being asked for the first time about the brawl.
