Thursday Morning Weather: More Snow, Frigid Temps Expected
Brutally cold temperatures are forecast to freeze the tri-state this week and weekend, as an arctic blast drops wind chills into the single digits and below, Storm Team 4 says.
Wind chill values could stay below zero all day Friday through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Lows will fall to around 6 degrees with highs only reaching near 20 degrees. A passing flurry or brief snow shower is possible. Morning temperatures slowly rise through the lower 30s.
Saturday: It will be a frigid day, despite mostly sunny skies. More clouds build in during the afternoon/evening time. Wind chills will make it feel between -10 and -25 across the region. It’s a chilly one, but a continued steady wind from the west-northwest around 10-15 miles per hour keeps temperatures from totally tanking.
Scattered snow showers and squalls will stick around Thursday as the coldest air of the season approaches. The high climbs all the way back up to 48. Temperatures Sunday are not expected to get out of the single digits. Then comes the bitterly cold stuff with Saturday and Sunday highs only likely to muster the mid-20s to near 30 with a gusty wind. Ahead of an arctic front Friday, temperatures will get into the mid-20s with some snow showers developing during the afternoon.
We return to average in the low 40s by Tuesday.
