CoSIDA Academic All-District Honorees
In every Academic All-District™ team selection, the First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
It marks the second straight year that Gesell and Uthoff earned the academic all-district distinction.
Tietz has a 3.64 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with a major in biology. The Clarksville, Tenn., native graduated in just three years with a degree in business marketing. Cumpstone has earned a spot on the NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for having a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher all seven semesters at the College and been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll five semesters for having a semester GPA of 3.20 or higher. Gesell is also one of 30 candidates for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award. He has appeared in all 23 games (15 starts) while battling through several lingering injuries. Shields, who was a first-team Academic All-American last season, will look to join Beau Reid as the only two-time Academic All-American in Nebraska basketball history. He is averaging 0.1 points and 0.4 rebounds in 1.8 minutes per game. He is a 45.2-percent field goal shooter over his career, including 31.7% (97-for-306) from three-point distance, and 74.4% (67-90) free-throw shooter, averaging 9.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game over his career. Kentucky has garnered 12 all-time honors by 10 different players since 1966.
As one of eight selections, Nurse is now eligible to be named a member of the 2015-16 Academic All-America Team, which recognizes excellence on the court and in the classroom.
