Facebook Messenger Can Now Support Multiple Account
One of those changes is multiple account support, as you can see in the screenshot above in which it seems to suggest that users will be able to add more than one Facebook account to Messenger.
“Instead of Messenger’s white action bar with the blue icons and blue indicator line, a few users have been seeing an inverted color gamut”, Android Police reported. The company confirmed that news to TechCrunch, explaining that it’s “always trying to create new ways for people to communicate seamlessly with everyone”. Unfortunately, is looks like SMS support is now only available in the US.
“Right now, we are testing the ability for people to easily bring all their conversations – from SMS and Messenger – to one place”.
Another reason why SMS text support was dropped from the platform was that, at the time, Facebook wanted its users to fully adopt its messaging platform. Introduced late a year ago, the feature allows users to not only request Uber rides but also pay for it via the Messenger itself.
The SMS messages are purple, while normal Messenger chats remain blue. Until now, there hasn’t been an easy way for people to access their individual Messenger accounts from shared devices.
We don’t yet know officially that Facebook is to bring such a feature to their Messenger app, but Android Police seems to think that this feature will be coming, and with a bit of luck be part of the next major update.
As far as the multiple account support goes, it’s will be interesting to see how many users will be using it as the most have single account. Early reports suggest you would link a phone number to a person’s Facebook account and their messages would all rest in the same place, with the texts differentiated by colour.
How long do you think it will be before Facebook turns this feature on, and will you benefit from it?
Next up is the multiple account support option that was also recently spotted on the iOS version of Facebook backed Instagram.
