Trump Suggests He’d Have China Assassinate North Korean Leader
A South Korea’s ruling party lawmaker called Friday for the removal of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, a sign that underscores growing impatience in dealing with the dictator pursuing missile and nuclear programs.
Although he didn’t clarify if “disappear” actually meant assassinated, he added, “Well, I’ve heard of worse things, frankly”.
Deputy spokesman Mark Toner said Thursday there is “no reason to doubt” Kim Jong Un carried out the purge that led to the death of Ri Yong Gil, chief of the North Korean Army’s general staff and No. 3 in its hierarchy.
Recently, Kim Jong Un held an “enlarged joint meeting” on February 2-3, just three days before North Korea’s recent rocket launch. “And they should make that problem disappear”, Trump said. He also described the North Korean leader as a “bad dude”. They’re taking our money, they’re taking our jobs and doing so much.
The presidential candidate said he would work with emerging superpower China to deal “economically” with the rogue Asian nation. We have power over China.
Details about North Korea’s opaque government are notoriously hard for outsiders to get, even national governments, and South Korean officials have a spotty record of tracking developments in North Korea. “I would say, ‘You gotta do it. You gotta do it, ‘” Trump said.
Trump was on “CBS This Morning” to talk foreign policy and was asked about North Korea’s long-range rocket launch over the weekend.
Some outside experts have said repeated bloody power shifts in North Korea indicated the young leader is still struggling to establish himself.
The United States approved new sanctions to punish Pyongyang for carrying out the recent nuclear and ballistic missile tests as well as for other malicious activities, including cybersecurity attacks and human rights abuses.
Kim Jong-un is no joke.
