Beyonce’s Controversial Halftime Show Draws Criticism From Rudy Giuliani
Woe to Beyoncé, whose Super Bowl 50 performance apparently was saturated with a pro-black power and anti-cop political subtext that has angered many a football fan and quite a few politicos, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Beyonce, after all, performed a new song, paid homage to the Black Panthers and generally dominated a halftime show that also included Coldplay and Bruno Mars.
“I have a very wonderful separation-divorce”, he says. I don’t know what the heck it was. A bunch of people bouncing around and all the unusual things.
The performance comes against the backdrop of the growing Black Lives Matter movement, which began in response to police killings of unarmed black men.
Meanwhile, others thought the performance for the Black Lives Matter Movement was incredible after the 34-year-old star was previously accused of shunning her black heritage.
This isn’t the first time that Giuliani has condemned individuals he perceives to be police critics. Her clothing was a subtle nod to Michael Jackson and his choice of garb worn back in 1993 during his Super Bowl XXVII halftime performance. I mean this is a political position, she’s probably going to take advantage of it. You’re talking to Middle America when you have the Super Bowl, so you can have entertainment. We’ll work on that.
On Saturday afternoon, Beyonce dropped a brand new buzz single titled “Formation”, and whilst the internet went into meltdown at the sight of new Beyonce music, another part of the internet had a different kind of meltdown. The vast majority of police officers risk their lives to keep us safe.
The performance that stirred everyone was of her latest song, “Formation”. That is, of course, unless you’ve been watching Fox News, where pundits have come just short of calling it un-American.
“Beyoncé may be a gifted entertainer but no one should really care what she thinks about any serious issue confronting our nation”, King wrote on Facebook.
But, don’t worry, HollywoodLife.com has you covered: Click above right now to take our quiz and find out which pre-“Formation” track was totally written about you.
