Dr Dre TV show detailed as Apple original called Vital Signs
Dr. Dre is set to star in and executive produce a brand new scripted television series titled Vital Signs exclusively for Apple.
Apple appears to be getting in on the original content game.
Apple designs and markets consumer electronics, computer software, and personal computers. At the time, it was speculated the content could be provided through a rumored streaming service, but with Apple having ended development on that project at the current time, distribution will come through more traditional means. Instead, it is described as a dark drama with no shortage of violence and sex. An episode filmed this week features an extended orgy scene.
“While technically a half-hour, the show is not a comedy”, according to THR.
The series is expected to be released all at once when it’s complete, although filming is still ongoing and the project hasn’t been officially announced.
Musician Dr Dre has been tipped to be creating a semi-autobiographical TV show with Apple by the name of Vital Signs. It’s unclear if Apple will deliver it via Apple Music or Apple TV. Vital Signs is now the only original on deck at Apple, though the company is said to be open to working with artists who already have a relationship there before staffing up a scripted department. Which means he won’t be stretching himself too far beyond his last major production, the very autobiographical Straight Outta Compton.
