Bihar BJP vice president shot dead
Bharatiya Janata Party’s vice president in Bihar, Visheshwar Ohja, was shot dead by unidentified men in Bhojpur district on Friday evening, the second BJP leader to be killed in the state in 12 hours. He was shot dead in his SUV while returning from a wedding; the police says they suspect a dozen gunmen in cars and on bikes shot four times at him.
On Friday morning, the bullet-riddled body of Kedar Singh, another BJP leader from Saran district, was found in Chhapra. Ojha was the vice-president of the BJP’s Bihar unit and an MLA from Shahpur.
Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP rules at national level, the right-wing Hindu nationalist party was badly beaten in Bihar which is India’s third most populous state and has a reputation for lawlessness. The government here has no control on the administration.
LJP Parliamentary Board leader Chirag Paswan hit out at Secular Alliance government alleging that “in whichever government RJD chief Lalu Prasad is a part, such incidents would take place as he is known for giving patronage to criminals”. Do people who opposed him or did not vote for Nitish Kumar have no right to stay in Bihar? Senior BJP leaders, including former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and state BJP president Mangal Pandey, condemned Ojha’s killing. “Chief Minister is only attending meetings to control Law & Order but criminals are out of control”.
“His will to control crime has come to an end”, he further added.
Meanwhile, the two injured persons have been admitted to a local hospital.
