Wicked wind chills could hit -20, weather alerts triggered
Wind chills that low can bring on frostbite in as little as 10 minutes outdoors, according to the weather service. Blowing snow is expected, as well as slick, snow-covered roads.
“Wind chills extend all the way into Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa”, Schultz said. If someone has these symptoms, they should get immediate medical attention.
The watch is in effect from late Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, the NWS in Binghamton, New York, said. Southern Kentucky may pick up a half to one inch of snow, with a dusting to a half-inch of snow possible for the Northern half of Kentucky.
The weather service forecasts snow showers Friday afternoon and into the evening, with a high of 25, followed by single-digit temperatures Friday night. Northwesterly winds got quite gusty too.
Friday night has a 70 percent chance of snow after 1 a.m., with areas of blowing snow. Plus, the northwesterly wind will remain fairly strong keeping wind chills well below zero all day.

Saturday could kick off with light snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 16.
Sunday: A 50 percent chance of snow, high near 18. Despite a relatively warm winter temperatures Saturday and into Sunday will dip in to the 5 degree to minus 5 degree range.
But the average February high, measured between 1981 and 2010, is 32, and the average low, 17.
