What the NH Primary Results Mean for Clinton, Kasich
Christie is an ex officio member of the University’s Board of Trustees. Lindsey Graham. Following relatively weak performances in Iowa and New Hampshire, Bush is looking to rebound in SC, but the poll suggests his momentum has been blunted, showing his support falling to 10.9 percent.
Throughout the race, Christie stood out for his blunt statements and a seeming inability to sugarcoat his assessments of the competition – and by February, Marco Rubio was bearing the brunt of it.
Christie had told supporters in New Hampshire Tuesday night that he would return to New Jersey to “take a deep breath” and reevaluate his candidacy.
But by Wednesday, it was becoming clear to the campaign that it had run out of steam.
“I will continue to fight for my belief that government needs to once again work for the people, not for the people who work for the government”, he said on his website.
Chris Christie has suspended his campaign for president. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who took second place in New Hampshire, does not have a national organization and is considered too moderate by many to win.
Thursday night’s Democratic presidential debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a swing state, is the party’s seventh forum-and the first since Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire primary in a landslide victory.
“He simply does not have the experience to be the President of the United States”, Christie argued. “While he created plenty of his own problems as governor of New Jersey, timing and luck are critical parts of success in politics, and Christie didn’t have either in the 2016 cycle”. His decline was attributable entirely, I think, to Saturday’s debate and Christie’s ongoing attacks. That’s what happened to the Rubio after he exceeded expectations with a strong third-place finish in Iowa. He added that he is leaving the race “without an ounce of regret”. “Do not listen to anyone who says you have to vote a certain way or for a certain candidate because you’re a woman”. Many people, including me, have looked at his support as a sign of dissatisfaction among Republican voters with Republican politicians.
Cruz argued that his campaign had made that assumption from a CNN live broadcast, but this was later debunked.
Neither Christie’s nor Cruz’s campaigns responded to requests for comment.
The former secretary of state raised $15 million in January, but Sanders bested her with $20 million.
“Our disappointment is not on you”.
Sanders’ skill at raising campaign money from hordes of small donors is challenging the fundraising machine backing Clinton, who has spent decades in public life and has cultivated close relationships with the party’s top donors and fundraisers. But I woke up this morning ready to keep fighting for the issues you and I believe in.
