Star Wars and Mario Kart cross in wonderful fan video:”Star Kart”

I loved Mario Kart back in the day, but boy could the game piss me off. Getting nailed with a turtle shell and off the track waiting for a tow that seemed to take forever was a ticket to throw-the-controller-land.

In a fantastic parody mash-up, YouTuber Dark Pixel has combined the banana-filled antics of Mario Kart with the epic of Star Wars racing into the self-titled “Star Kart”. It’s wonderful. Plus, it’s hard to resist Mario in an X-Wing. The environments are vivid; the sound borrows perfectly from both source materials; the animation is fluid and as realistic as you can make a Mario Kart race in outer space look. We see all of the over-the-top action that the Mario Kart series is known for, but taking place on various Star Wars planets like Tatooine and Hoth.

The cosplaying cads stay in character the entire time, even going so far as to crack out some of Mario Kart’s classic accessories.

Now we just need to persuade Nintendo and Disney to work out their differences, and we’ve got ourselves a smash hit.

The gang makes their way to the very mysterious Death Star ship owned and ruled by Lord Darth Vader, and swarmed with his Storm Troopers.
